What a lovely place. It was so immaculate and fresh with very tasteful decor. The welcome basket was a nice touch and most appreciated, plenty of room for a family of 8 everything has been thought of from utensils to Netflix to baskets of throws for those chilly winter nights, some milk in the fridge and a nice big basket of dog blankets and bowls. Location is perfect for the harbour and travelling around Northumberland, everything you need on your doorstep with good selection of pubs and shops. We enjoyed our weekend immensely as did the dogs and will most definitely be back again.
A delightful house situated in Amble on the northumberland coast. Very clean and everything you could possibly want for your stay, including a welcome basket, very thoughtful. High quality furnishings and appliances, it has 3 bedrooms and a small outside space with table and chairs. Also a bonus is they will take up to 2 well behaved dogs. A folder is also left for knowledge of the surrounding areas. Would highly recommend!
We stayed here for a few days. The house is gorgeous, with everything supplied you can think off! Gorgeous bedding and towels provided. Blankets and bowls for the dogs. Very clean, spacious and decorated lovely. Lovely welcome pack upon arrival. Elaine was very helpful and recommending places to eat, drink and where to go. Amble is very dog friendly and the house is 2 mins from the harbour. Great base for exploring Northumberland.
What a fantastic cottage! Perfectly situated a short walk from the Harbour but in a nice quiet street The back yard was a great suntrap and had plenty of space for a family of 6 to relax The cottage itself was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated and the beds were all extremely comfortable We had a great week exploring Northumberland and Gerties Getaway was the perfect base Amble its self is a vibrant fishing village with some first class restaurants and a great selections of pubs and craft ale bars The owner Elaine was very helpful recommending places to visit and eat and even let is know the cottage was ready early so we could check in early which was great (and at no extra cost!) The welcome basket was also welcomed! We enjoyed it so much we have already booked again for next year.
We had a fabulous stay at Gertie’s Getaway for October half term with our 13, 11 and 2 year old children. The house has been immaculately renovated to a high standard and beautifully decorated and furnished with lovely bedding and super snuggly towels. The house is perfectly located to toddle to Amble harbour and there are some great restaurants nearby and a great chippy at the end of the road. We had an amazing welcome basket when we arrived with treats for us and the kids, much appreciated after a long journey. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped and the kids really appreciated the smart tv for chill time after busy days out. A great base for exploring the Northumberland coast but also for cosy nights in.
This is actually the second time we have stayed at Gerties and we have NEVER done that before EVER!!! It is beautifully appointed, providing everything you need for a truly relaxing dog friendly stay. Beautifully decorated, selflessly clean and lovely comfortable sofas ensure a relaxing time. The locations perfect for walks on the beach and there is a great fish & chip shop literally at the end of the street. Amble has everything you need, restaurants, beach, small supermarkets so if you forget anything you won't struggle searching for a local shop. The neighbouring beaches and small towns are easy to reach too. Elaine, the owner goes above & beyond, I admired the vased artificial flowers and she actually picked one up for me when I was struggling to locate them near my home. Honestly don't hesitate to book this place 100% recommended.
Stayed at Gerties for a short break in October. I was looking around all the Northumberland pages to find somewhere near the beach/sea as per my husbands request. On reading the reviews for Gerties my mind was made up. Elaine is fantastic and very helpful. The location is great with a short walk to the beach. Little fish & chip shop at the end of the street. The village has plenty of shops if you need to pick anything up. What I loved was a care package had been left, butter, milk, bread, teas, biscuits oh and a bottle of wine. It just made the stay more personal. Walkworth is around a 25min stroll. Recommended to anyone who will listen.
Fabulous weekend stay in this clean, comfortable and spacious house. Everything you could possibly need is catered for, dogs included. The emergency dog tag (I am on holiday) is a great and invaluable idea! Thoughtful welcome pack for the humans. Situated minutes from the Amble marina, and lots of lovely places to eat and walk. Spurelli ice cream recommended! A short distance to Warkworth with its lovely beach and choice of dog friendly pubs. Recommended. Will be returning.
Thank you for an absolutely brilliant week. What sets this house apart from others we have stayed in in the past is the high standards and cleanliness. I think that when you have dogs, other properties assume that we will accept reduced standards. We want to come on holiday and stay in a property that is equally as lovely and clean as our home. This instantly makes me relax so thank you ! The house is in a perfect location for exploring the local area. A real home from home. We hope to be back soon.
Fantastic week spent over New Year at Gerties Getaway. The house is furnished to a high standard with everything included that you would need for a week away. The location of the house is great, just a short stroll into the village, beach, marina and a great base to explore the surrounding area. Plenty of places to eat & drink locally, suited to all tastes & budgets within walking distance. Elaine left us a great welcome pack, the selection boxes & wine were a really lovely touch - thank you. One of the best dog friendly houses we have stayed in!
We only booked for 2 nights only because that was all that was available the cottage is beautiful extremely clean everything you need is provided it is fitted with quality furniture and fittings the only thing I would change is the blind on the front window just my choice only because there is a footpath outside the cottage and I like privacy . Location is perfect a short stroll to the centre the beach dogs loved the walk along the pier Would recommend and return.
Full blown welcome awaits behind the front door, no disappointments! All as stated on the website but the lovely green space on the other side of the gate came as a surprise; most welcome to the dogs. Walk up the incline to fantastic viewpoint, complete with bench, directly above the harbour. Easy walks and plenty to do.
Absolutely lovely stay. Home has everything you need and is well equipped for tour poochies. Living area is wonderful and all round comfortable. It’s on the doorstep of the beautiful beach too. Have rebooked to go again.
We had a fantastic October half term at Gertie’s Getaway. The house is just beautiful, immaculately clean and with every possible amenity that you could want for a comfortable stay. Very clean bedding and fresh smelling snuggly towels. Within a stone’s throw of a lovely chippy and some fab seafood restaurants, and a short distance from Warkworth with its castle and fabulous beach. A brilliant base for exploring Northumberland but equally a lovely place to share cosy family evenings in with a movie in front of the fire. We very much hope to be back.
This is a fantastic accommodation. Spotlessly clean. Spacious bedrooms. Great open plan living area. And loads of lovely touches - Welcome pack, fast WiFi, Netflix, dog bowls and blankets..... We stayed there in winter - the great heating system meant we stayed really warm. Amble is a great little town with numerous fantastic restaurants, cafes and shops a 2 minute stroll away. We will definitely be back.
We had a fantastic time! The place was so clean and much much bigger than we thought! All our family had an amazing christmas and a big part of that was because of how amazing Gerty's getaway was!

We had a great family holiday. The house is in a brilliant location, right in the centre of Amble, close to the harbour village, beach and restaurants. The house looks like it has been recently done up and has lots of nice welcoming touches. It was ideal for a week’s holiday. We were able to explore Amble as well as further along the coast, it’s a lovely part of the country.
A perfect getaway for four adults, one teenager and a dog! Plenty of space for us to spread out, in an ideal location for the local shops and restaurants but also a great spot to explore the area. The house is furnished to a high standard with everything you need for a short break, and the beds were super comfy! Elaine was a great host - replied quickly to any queries we had. Highly recommended!
A large very comfortable and clean cottage, close to the harbour/beach/pier and central to shops and lots of places to eat. Amble is very dog friendly and the people very welcoming we would highly recommend this cottage, everything we needed was included in our stay, great hosts with excellent communication.
Gerties Getaway was spotlessly clean when we arrived, a must in the present climate. We wanted for nothing. The basket of provisions was a lovely surprise. Is was perfect for us as a family of 4 adults and 2 children. Amble has a lot going for it and the cottage is in the perfect location. Right to the beach, left to town and straight on to harbour area. Quit street and no parking problems. Would recommend and will definitely return next year.
We visited Gertie’s Getaway as a family of 5 (children aged between 4-13) and had a wonderful time. The owners were great with communications beforehand and the property itself had everything we needed and was plenty big enough for all of us. The little patio out the back is a real sun trap. We really didn’t need to leave Amble at all as it had beaches, rock pools, great playgrounds, walks, restaurants and shops. Next time we will bring our bikes and explore the coastal paths more. This was our first trip to Northumberland and the beaches, castles and people were every bit as amazing as we had been told.
Fabulous cottage, right in the heart of the town, easy walking to shops, cafes and restaurants and the ebeaches of course. The house was super quiet, very clean and comfortable. Nest heating system meant we could quickly warm up when needed. The kitchen had lots of equipment and utensils. we only ate in, either cooking or takeaways and the facilities were great. Dog friendly and great access to green space for walking them. Lovely little back yard, although the weather wasn't good enough for us to use it. I can imagine its a great sun spot in the summer.

A beautiful cottage in a lovely location. It had everything we needed for a wonderful family say with our children & four legged friends Defiantly we will be back!
This is the perfect house for a coastal retreat. Close to the harbour and amenities it was a great base for us and the dog to explore the local area. The house is beautifully presented and we had a great stay.

A beautiful property, immaculately presented and close to amenities and good gin bar and restaurants. Very well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, fluffy towels. Cant fault it, shame about the weather so we couldnt use the lovely decked patio.
Elaine's home is perfect. It has everything you need and is spacious enough for 5 adults to feel very comfortable in it. Amble is a lovely village, which in normal times (with no virus) has great restaurants and interesting shops. Definitely worth a visit.
